Smoothen Those Rough Palms - Beauty Tips

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/
Hands and Palms are the first point of contact with strangers and friends – when you warmly shake hands. You will be reticent about the clasp when your palms are rough and dry. This is something that can be remedied so why not?

Many housewives have rough palms - after scouring bathtubs and washing dishes, many manual workers suffer this fate, gardening can also be harsh on hands and cold weather and chill winds are unseen culprits. At times rough hands are inherited - but can definitely be worked on.

The first step is always wear gloves - when you are working with detergents or chemicals or weeds and mud.

To 1 teaspoon of sugar add 1/2 teaspoon of baby oil and 1 teaspoon of liquid soap, rub in between palms and massage hands thoroughly but gently. Wash with a mild soap - your hand will feel pampered, do this at least once a day - everyday.

Add 1 teaspoon fresh cream to 1 teaspoon sugar and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Massage palms and hands until sugar melts. Wash hands with a gentle soap and pat them dry.

Blend 1 cup warm milk with ½ cup of yogurt and 2 spoons of sugar, soak hands in this for 5 minutes. Massage well in between fingers and palms.

Keep a clean toothbrush near the kitchen sink, halve a lemon and dip into salt and rub on palms and hands, slough away extra with the toothbrush. Wash hands. This will soften skin at the same time remove stains on fingers and any cooking smells.

Dab some vinegar on hands after washing dishes, use some moisturizer or petroleum jelly.

Make a lotion with 1 tablespoon of glycerin, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of rose water. Store in a bottle and use every night, wear cotton gloves as hands will be slightly sticky. After 1 week you will notice good results.

Avoid drying hands under hot air dryers in public restrooms as this will dry the skin.

Add corn starch to a bowl of warm water, mix it well and soak hands in this. There will be a marked difference to the feel of palms.

Use a glass jar to make a paste of salt and oil. Half fill the jar with sea salt and pour olive oil to cover the salt. Scoop out as much as you need to massage hands and store the rest. Wash with mild soap, for quick results use at least once every day.

Using any of these remedies will see you gloating over the soft and smooth palms soon.

I TRIED MARILYN MONROE'S CRAZY LIP-CONTOURING TRICK

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/
Contrary to popular belief, Kim Kardashian is not the pioneer of contouring. In fact, it's none other than Marilyn Monroe, who used the technique for her famed red pout.
To make her lips appear fuller, Monroe would apply several shades of lip color and gloss to create dimension. Because I, along with the rest of the internet, am fascinated by pop culture's current fixation on voluptuous lips, I figured it was the perfect time to have a go at the technique myself.
I looked to Laramie Glen, makeup artist and founder of Book Your Look, to break down Monroe's admittedly complicated technique. And to show just how dynamic the results of lip contouring can be, Glen initially gave me a classic matte red lip (in the middle above) which is usually what I go for. Then for Monroe's method, she applied darker reds on the outer corners and lighter hues brushed on the middle of my lips.

STEP 1: LINE THE LIPS:

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/
After exfoliating your lips , create the shape of the lips you want with the darkest color pencil. I like to use a deep chocolate to give the illusion of depth.

STEP 2: CREATE A BASE:

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/

Use a brick red  and fill in the lips with the pencil. Focus on the corners of the mouth and use small, short strokes from outline to the center of the lips.

STEP 3: BLEND THE COLOR:

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/

With your brightest red, start in the center of of the mouth and use short blending strokes. Be careful not to go too close to the outline of lips (you don't want to erase the depth you created), but use this step to make sure everything is blended.

STEP 4: HIGHLIGHT:

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/

Using a brush or your fingertip, press a cream highlighter into the center of your bottom lip. This adds fullness and draws the eye to the center of your mouth, making your lips look more lush.

STEP 5: MOISTURIZE:

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/

Use a rose lip balm to add moisture and wetness back into your lips. Using a slick balm instead of a lip gloss will keep your lips healthy and hydrated, without going overboard.

THE FINISHED LOOK:

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/

Voilà! You have lips that are fuller, shinier, and decidedly more illuminated.

THE DREAM WEAVER: 8 COMMON DREAMS AND WHAT THEY MEAN

http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/
Imagine arriving at a museum in pajamas and fuzzy slippers to spend an entire night under a piece of art. At The Rubin's annual event tomorrow, that dream becomes a reality. The Rubin, one of the only art galleries in the country that lets guests stay overnight, typically hosts its Dream-Over each year in May. As a described 'sleep-over for adults', guests who purchase a ticket ahead of time will answer a Dreamlife Questionnaire and are then assigned a specific artwork from the museum's five floors of Tibetan and Himalayan art to cozy up to overnight based on their answers. In the morning, their dreams are then interpreted by dream facilitators.
Psychologist Dr. William Braun has spoken at the event several times, interpreting sleepy New Yorker's dreams the next morning. He explains that even if two people have the same dream, the meaning depends on the person's inner psyche. "Dreams can go many ways," he says.
In honor of the event, here are eight common dreams and their interpretations:
The Dream: You're standing on a cliff, and suddenly you're falling into nothingness.
The Interpretation: "Dreams of falling can be associated with feeling out of control or overwhelmed. They may also relate to feeling unsupported and insecure," says Braun. If you dream of falling due to the floor coming out from under you, or a different variation, it can also be interpreted differently. "The devil is in the details. Even though there may be a general interpretation of falling, what is most important are the particulars for the person dreaming. He or she will have very different associations to the details of the dream. For a particular patient, falling may conjure up images of 9/11. Another may think of 'falling from grace.' In short, even though the dream of falling may be very common, the details are different in each case."
The Dream: You've lost your voice and you're unable to call or shout for help.
The Interpretation: "This may not just be a dream, but may be the result of sleep paralysis," explains Braun. "During REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, the sleep cycle during in which we dream, our bodies experience REM atonia, a natural paralysis during the REM cycle. Physiologically, we are paralyzed during REM sleep to prevent our bodies from acting/moving while we dream. People who experience sleep paralysis usually wake up before the REM cycle is complete. This space between sleep and waking can be experienced as a dream. It can also be experienced in the waking state as being unable to move, talk, and in some cases breathe."
The Dream: You're naked, in public.
The Interpretation: "These dreams are often accompanied by feelings of embarrassment and shame," says Braun. "They can also be related to feelings vulnerability and exposure." But if you're in the nude and feel no shame, it could be the total opposite. "Perhaps this person wants to be seen, acknowledged, admired."
The Dream: Your teeth are suddenly falling out.
The Interpretation: Are you an anxious person? It could be pent up anxiety coming through in the form of a dream. "We might think of this as being concern about one's potency, competence, strength, power, ability to 'take a bite out' of the world, " says Braun. This common dream can also be associated with times of change and transition.
The Dream: You're being chased.
The interpretation: It all depends on who is doing the chasing. "Often people are being chased by a monster. The monster may be a manifestation of an indiscretion, an addiction or a debt," explains Braun. If you have the unfortunate dream (or nightmare) of being chased by someone you know, it could differ. "Your associations about the person chasing you are often more insightful than focusing on the actual person chasing you," says Braun. "Keep in mind, people in dreams can be substitutions for other people or even substitutions for aspects of ourselves."
The Dream: You've dreamt about an aspect of your day, or the current location where you've fallen asleep
The Interpretation: "This is a great example of 'Day Residue,'' explains Braun. "Often, what happened the day prior to dreaming is used in our dreams," he says. We often construct our dreams of our thoughts and sights throughout the day.
The Dream: You're in a position of power: a CEO, President, King or religious figure.
The Interpretation: "On the surface, dreaming of being in a position of power seems to be grandiose," say Braun. "However, it can be argued that most people who dream of being in a position of power are in fact not in a position of power. Therefore, the dream turns the unpowerful dreamer, in the dream world, into the opposite. What looks like grandiosity is actually compensatory. The dream compensates (or covers up) for the feelings of being powerless."
The Dream: You're at an impossibly elegant dinner party or you're with a deceased family member, or other impossible (positive) scenarios
The Interpretation: This kind of dream, along with other dreams of elaborated elegance can represent a need to supplement reality with fantasy. "Dreaming of a banquet is an attempt to satisfy the hunger of the missed meal," explains Braun. "Dreaming of a dead loved one is a way to bring them back to life," he says.

How Cleansing Conditioners Actually Work

Cleansing conditioners—or “co-washing”—are all the rage in hair care right now, but what does it even mean? The name makes it sound like you’re, well, showering with a friend, but it goes without saying that its actual meaning is much, much different (and a little less sexy). Lest you embarrass yourself with cluelessness as the craze gets even crazier, we’re here to demystify co-washing once and for all, and figure out how co-washing and those “cleansing conditioners” (oh, the oxymorons) actually work—and determine the difference between them.
http://beautylookatoz.blogspot.com/

What is co-washing?“Co-washing” is the abbreviated term for “conditioner washing,” which is exactly what it sounds like—it’s a method of cleansing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. Co-washing has been around for a while, but designated cleansing conditioners are relatively new on the market, with tons of our favorite hair care brands following suit. This is good news, because it means everyone can get in on the trend, including super fine hair types. Originally intended for use by those with naturally curlyor textured hair, the co-washing community has since broadened to include many different hair types, though it’s still particularly favored by the curly-haired. Shampoo uses surfactants to create that squeaky-clean lather, and while conditioner also contains surfactants, it’s formulated with significantly less, and much milder formulations. Rather than wash out immediately as one would with most shampoos, cleansing conditioners and co-washing formulas are best left in the hair for a few minutes for optimum cleansing.
What are the benefits?
The purpose of co-washing is to preserve the natural oils of the hair while still gently cleansing, allowing for better hydration for all hair types and less color stripping for colored hair. The goal is to make hair healthier overall, with less of the stripping-replenishing cycle that washing then conditioning creates. Cleansing conditioners in particular are excellent for all hair types, as you don’t need to suffer through the process of bearing a few days or weeks of greasiness before the hair and scalp balances itself and regains a clean look. Because cleansing conditioners do actually clean the hair, albeit gently, they’re able to cut through environmental debris and product buildup while retaining the scalp’s natural oils.
Who should be doing it?
Dry, dehydrated, and damaged hair types find great success with co-washing, as do those with textured natural hair. While the original method of co-washing—which is to say, using conditioner only—wasn’t especially suitable for fine and oily hair, cleansing conditioners are universally beneficial. The gentle cleansing action of these products allow the scalp’s oil production to regain balance, resulting in a decrease in overproduction. Think of cleansing conditioners in the same way you think of oil cleansers and facial oils—they’re oil-regulating, not oil-causing. In fact, because fine, dry hair types are so susceptible to breakage and further damage, cleansing conditioners are actually kind of a godsend for taking the place of shampoo.
How do I start co-washing?
Many people say that the trick to co-washing is to shampoo your hair every once in a while. Straight-up co-washing sans any shampoo whatsoever is beneficial mainly to the extremely dry-haired, while the rest of us can get away with shampooing once a week and sticking to co-washing the rest of the time. Cleansing conditioners, on the other hand, can be used each time you wash, and there’s no transitional greasy period while you’re waiting for your hair to adjust as there can be with co-washing.
With that said, the best way to get a head start on co-washing is with an inexpensive, lightweight drugstore conditioner: Co-washing requires a lot of product, so you’re not going to want to use the fancy stuff as your co-wash. Use a generous amount of something like VO5 Herbal Escapes Clarifying Conditioner, rubbing it into your scalp as you would shampoo, then rinse and repeat. If a gentle cleansing conditioner is more your scene, we’re loving the brand new A Beautiful Life Condish, a cult favorite find that uses all-natural ingredients like shea butter, peppermint, and lavender to make the magic happen while also smelling amazing.
